The first step, of course, is to purchase the unit. Once this has been done, it's time to get down to some good old fashioned air conditioning installation. Depending on the model you purchased, it should come with most of what you need to get started, including a mounting bracket. Place this bracket on the sill of the window and screw it there in preparation for the unit. Open up the window and put the unit over the sill so that it rests on the bracket. Pull the window down so that it sits flush against the top of the unit. There should be some extensions on both sides of the unit. Pull these out until they are straight up against the sides of the window. With a power drill, make small holes into the window frame and then use these holes and some screws to secure the extensions to the wall.
